So I'm reading about Final Fantasy I and this book mentions it uses a 'Vancian' magic system. So apparently this is from author Jack Vance and the 'Dying Earth' series of books. It refers to style of "remembered spells" that must be memorised and then disappear from one's mind when cast. Many nerds will recognise this as the system used and popularised by D&D. And indeed Final Fantasy I does use this system, before switching to the more generic MP system used in later games. #FinalFantasy #DungeonsAndDragons #Vancian
