The poor have always given more to those in need, despite struggling themselves. That's been the case ever since money entered human society. It's even more so now, with wider social class divides. The poor may not have much in finances. The poor are far richer in humanity than those with heaps of finances & no compassion for others with much lesser than. There is no shame in being poor.
