#Trump did his usual rote #lying about the #economy — pity the fact-checkers who tried to keep up even in the first 10 minutes or so of the speech — along with some of his other greatest hits, including the many #wars he stopped [🙄] & the magic of #tariffs. (He referred to the “unfortunate involvement” of #SCOTUS on the tariff issue, as if the justices barged into his office like interlopers.) #SOTU

Reagan, the “Great Communicator”, once managed to do the entire #SOTU address in 31 mins; that’s because he could say important things efficiently & well. Tonight, however, was not about communication, it was about showmanship. Almost every line was a cue for applause from obedient #Republicans; they even gave #JaredKushner a standing ovation [seriously?]. Every few minutes, #Trump told a story, & reached out into the audience like the host of The Price Is Right, telling people to come on down.

Dog successfully wagged on Iran after disaster #SOTU, crumbling polls, Tariff setback in Supreme Court and intensifying #Epstein accusations. That will teach Norway for snubbing him for the Peace Prize!

I woke up this morning to hear that Trump had made a policy proposal in his #SOTU, basically matching up to $1000 on a 401k-like investment account for workers with no access to such an account. I’m not necessarily against this idea. Trump lies that inflation is down at 1.7 percent, when in fact it is at 2.4 percent. Trump says he has lifted 2.4 million off of food stamps. In reality, Trump has introduced requirements which many do not meet, thereby denying food stamps to those in need. Trump also claims that his tariffs are saving the US and will continue, all applause stops, and the camera cuts to Chief Justice Roberts who looks worried (picture 2). #sotu
