So our friend @Wallflower@beige.party has been back on Masto a couple, two or three days and has updated us a bit here and there on what she's done while on her hiatus. Something she didn't mention though, is she did some voice acting! YES! I was able to convince Wallflower to lend her voice on a song I wrote for an annual songwriting challenge I participate in! Heeee! Is she a natural? No. Did she accept a little directorial guidance to help with that? Also no. Wallflower doesn't take well to being told what to do. Have I always loved hearing her voice and needed her to do this? Hard yes. I'm so grateful she agreed. Her part turned out so good. Our voice acting conversation adds so much to my stream of consciousness lyrics and ties them together really well. And what's really amazing is she's never done this before. She's never worked with the technology I was asking her to use and she was pushing against her comfort zone. The song is obviously fictional. It's about the things and people I encounter during a walk as I go to visit Wallflower. It presumably takes place in New York City where we live several blocks apart from each other. Here’s a screenshot of my new song ‘She’s An Island Girl’ in the Tracktion Waveform DAW. Seven tracks. Drums, rhythm guitar, solo keys, rhythm keys, bass, vocals and guitar solo. Yellow track is a blank song structure track to give me some reference building the song. Rhythm and solo guitar was Danelectro 59 through Strymon Iridium and Keeley compressor. Keys tracks were Dano through EHX B9 Organ Machine pedal and Keeley compressor. EHX B9 setting was classic rock with cranked modulation and percussive click.
