“We can defeat them, the big tech industry has a playbook, but we also have a playbook” said Bram Vranken in conversation with Carole Cadwalladr, Margarida Silva and Natalia Viana, at #ijf26 conference.
At the International Journalism Festival, Bram presented our recent research with AlgorithmWatch, published by Investigate Europe, revealing how the European Commission copied and pasted an amendment suggested by Microsoft and Digital Europe.

We promised that, if we returned to Perugia for the International Journalism Festival this year, we'd go all or nothing.
We chose all and it paid off! ⚡️
What an amazing couple of days, meeting new people, co-hosting a hugely successful lunch event (in a stunning venue), and, most importantly, having fun as a team.

We're jumping on a plane and heading to Perugia for #IJF26
This year, we're looking forward to talking to even more people in the world of journalism who believe in community and protecting news values. We hope that they can see the future of the Social Web is a solution for journalists.
At our lunch event, we'll be highlighting combined efforts across the Open Social Web, including both AP and ATProto. We hope it's a success!

This time next week we'll be in Perugia, Italy for the International Journalism Festival!
Whilst we're there, we'll be hosting a lunch alongside @bjoernsta@eimsbuettel.social from Save Social for anyone and everyone interested in combining efforts to make the #SocialWeb a new home for journalism.
This will be a great opportunity to showcase the Social Web to the people who could benefit most which we hope will build some weight behind the Social Web movement.
