30 Mar: Cold cut roast beef, root vegetable mash and pickles #cooking #food #FoodDiary Not so much cooking (well, the mash I suppose) more assembling. Didn't eat all of that (obviously) so enough beef leftover for sandwiches for lunch today too.

12 Mar: Baked 'fried chicken' with chicken skin, and chilli sauce #cooking #food #FoodDiary Couldn't be bothered with the deep frying malarkey, so shallow fried then finished in the oven. Worked pretty well, if not quite as crunchy.

20 Feb: Crumbed and poached basa in tartare broth #cooking #food #FoodDiary Based on a dish that used to appear (with hake if I remember rightly) at the excellent House Restaurant at the National Theatre - now supplanted by the also excellent Lasdun. There are small chunks of buttered potato and some greens in there too, making it almost chowder-like I suppose, along with the flavours of dill, capers and gherkin.

19 Feb: Meatloaf #cooking #food #FoodDiary This is US style meatloaf rather than the Nigella version with ham and egg, because I'll do anything for l'oeuf, but I won't do that. I lie of course, I usually make the Nigella one, but wanted to make the pathetic joke.
