Captain Tarthopom by Jean Cohen-Solal, released on Connection in 1973. Phillipe wrote on Prog Archives: First formed in electro acoustic researches and in contemporary improvised music, Jean Cohen Solal delivered two intriguing, very personal albums during the 70's. Today, Flute libres and Captain Tarthopom can be considered as ultimate masterpieces without reaching a specific musical label. These albums are a perfect mix between buzzing sitar-like mantra, weird electronic dream-like psychedelica and jazzy acid rock. Captain Tarthopom starts the cosmic, magical dance with two haunting folkish-epic compositions that include a certain sense of humour and derision (self title)... https://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=18134 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bezftt6Am4Q #JeanCohenSolal #Flute #Prog #CosmicMusic #Jazz #FrenchMusic #Music

Embryo's Rache by Embryo, released on United Artists Records in 1971. Mellotron Storm wrote on Prog Archives ...Jimi Jackson from AMON DULL II adds mellotron, organ and piano. Jimi likes to distort his keyboards so it all sounds so good. Ahh Krautrock. There is some Farfisa on here too that happened to be in Dieter Dierks studio where they recorded it in 1971. Love the picture of the four guys (which includes Jimi) in the liner notes. By the way I think this is a definite improvement over their debut. "Tausendfussler" opens with vocals expressions, percussion and what sounds like congas. It kicks in around a minute with flute playing over top... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gkh14P7FVX4 #Embryo #Krautrock #Cosmishe #Flute #Mellotron #JazzRock #Franco #Music

A Flat, G Flat and C is an album by American jazz multi-instrumentalist Yusef Lateef, featuring performances recorded in 1966 for the Impulse! label. The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow stated: Yusef Lateef (heard on tenor, alto, flute, oboe and the mysterious-sounding theremin) is in explorative and consistently colorful form... Lateef performs ten songs (eight are his originals) that are all at least in abstract form related to the blues. Well worth several listens. - Wikipedia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_P_IZ6QApw&list=RD7_P_IZ6QApw&start_radio=1 #YusefLateef #Jazz #ImpulseRecords #Music #Flute #JazzFlute #Oboe #ReggieWorkman #SpirtiualJazz

Sorcery! by Sabu And His Percussion Ensemble, released on Columbia in 1958 Ambient Exotica wrote: Sorcery! showcases the fully fleshed out vision of New York-bred conguero and percussionist Louis “Sabu” Martinez (1930–1979) who leads a nonet on this six-track opus congastium. It is released in 1958 on Columbia Records and comprises of anything but unique compositions, or better still, developments and progressions. Each of the concoctions is comparably long by Exotica standards and eminently vivid. Despite the screaming title and the premise of a largely percussion-focused album, the intrinsic darkness that reigns over the majority of the tracks is not intimidating, not even when Oriental tonalities are injected. http://www.ambientexotica.com/exorev306_sabu_sorcery/ ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8KZNe8B-9w&list=RDg8KZNe8B-9w&start_radio=1 #SabuMartinez #Drums #Exotica #Jazz #Music #Congos #Oboe #Flute

Honeybuns is the seventh album by American pianist and arranger Duke Pearson featuring performances by Pearson's nonet recorded in 1965 and released on the Atlantic label in 1966. The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 3 stars stating "Pearson performs music in a style that would have fit in quite well on Blue Note ... This is not an essential date, but it is nice to have this rarity back in print again - Wikipedia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnSdfxBYR9g&list=PL7uuY-WVWs2vwD_URQHmIpiy9leqaOiQ5&index=1 #DukePearson #Jazz #HardBop #SoulJazz #Music #JazzPiano #Flute #LesSpann

Ended Wednesday and welcomed Thursday after my swim with Ruta and Daitya a jazz album by pianist Keith Jarrett and drummer Jack DeJohnette, recorded in May 1971 and released on ECM Records in 1973—one of Jarrett's rare performances on electric keyboard. Tyran Grillo wrote for ECM Reviews: Keith Jarrett and Jack DeJohnette, who continue their formidable partnership to this day, join forces for an early and unique collaboration. This being the tail end of Jarrett’s electric period with Miles Davis, Ruta and Daitya marks an archivally important transition into his imminent acoustic pilgrimages. “Overture Communion” captures our attention from the start with a funky, wah-wahed electric piano, warmly guiding us into the album’s exciting, yet somehow always plaintive world... https://ecmreviews.com/2010/11/03/ruta-and-daitya/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SEnUqxndcU&list=OLAK5uy_mfO46jL7PXcFWgmhCaXHtWMpQTX-OH4RQ #KeithJarrett #JackDeJohnette #ECM #ECMReviews #Jazz #Music #ElectricPiano #Flute

The Roar Of The Greasepaint- The Smell Of The Crowd by Herbie Mann, released on Atlantic in 1965 The Roar of the Greasepaint -- The Smell of the Crowd Review by Scott Yanow On this out of print LP, flutist Herbie Mann performs 11 songs from a famous Leslie Bricusse-Anthony Newley musical. Joined by an orchestra arranged by Ray Ellis (and including either Chick Corea or Roger Kellaway on piano), Mann plays well enough... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VOxmtYTrOQ&list=OLAK5uy_mJvpmkSZq5bAJDqnMehe9hSQdD101ec1o #HerbieMann #ChickCorea #Jazz #JazzFlute #Broadwaytunes #Flute #Music
