This is a badly researched and reported article. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3dzrklrz5ro Yes, The Royal Iris has been a much loved #Mersey #Ferry but this ferry boat has not been afloat for 67 years. The Royal Iris and the Royal Iris of the Mersey are different boats. Our family photo album has a picture of me with a face like a slapped arse onboard the Royal Iris when I was about 6 or 7. I was in a strop, apparently, and my parents thought they'd capture the moment. 😄 I always felt fond of the Mountwood as that was the name of my house at junior school. And when they say they're going to welcome the Royal Daffodil into the fleet later this year, there have been previous Royal Daffodils. Daffodil, like Iris, being a previous Wallasey boat made Royal following their participation in the raid on Zeebrugge in 1918 and still marked with a service of remembrance every year in April. #Wirral

This is great! A ferry from Dunkirk 🇫🇷 to Rosyth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, near Edinburgh, will soon be operated by the Danish company DFDS. A 20h-long ferry ⛴️ ride, 3 times a week. https://www.timeout.com/uk/news/the-uk-is-getting-a-new-direct-ferry-service-to-europe-in-2026-010926 #ferry #slowtravel #UK #France #Scotland
