I was asleep at the switch when this came out a few days ago. It is *very* worth reading what @pluralistic@mamot.fr has to say. What Trump is doing is horrendous but some things might *inadvertently* change in a positive way - more quickly - because he's doing them. https://pluralistic.net/2026/04/20/praxis/#acceleration #trump #EnergyTransition #solar #renewables

@aptitude@mastodon.social Imagine where we'd be today, if Thorium Molten Salt Reactors were fully developed during the last several decades. The tech would be perfected by now, and gone global, instead of facing derailment again, from ignorant conflicts causing mass destabilization #EnergyTransition #Energy

American Efficient & affiliated companies must pay about $1.1 billion for “one of the largest and most brazen frauds” in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s history. American Efficient violated the market rules of the PJM Interconnection and MISO by selling them energy efficiency resources that it didn’t control or that wouldn’t reduce load beyond what would have happened anyway. #EnergyMastodon #Corruption #Climate #EnergyTransition https://www.utilitydive.com/news/ferc-american-efficient-fraud-market-manipulation-pjm-miso/817670/

China's renewable energy expansion has reached staggering scale. In 2023 alone, the country added 216 GW of solar capacity — more than the total ever installed in the United States. Wind added another 100 GW. Total renewable capacity now exceeds 1.5 TW. For comparison, the entire US power grid (all sources) stands at approximately 1.2 TW. This is driven by energy security needs, market dominance (China controls 80% of solar supply chains), and economics. Solar prices have fallen 90% in a decade, making it the cheapest energy source in history. The challenge now is transmission. China is building ultra-high-voltage lines and massive battery storage to move power from western deserts to eastern industrial centers. For investors: grid infrastructure, copper, lithium, and rare earth metals are the strategic assets of the coming decade. #China #Renewables #Solar #EnergyTransition #Investing #Grid https://vir.group/
