All of this is reason to end the #oil #addiction API gravity tells us how light or heavy the oil is. • US WTI: ~40° API — light, golden, and easier to refine • Iran Light: ~34° API • Russia Urals: ~31° API • Venezuela: ~8–12° API — extremely heavy, like tar Oil quality plays a major role in global energy economics and politics — not just the amount of oil a country has. "Fracasse est un ouvrage collaboratif hybride fait de textes et d’images en tous genres. Il vise à questionner ouvertement les liens entre l’alcool et nos vies en prenant soin de s’épargner au maximum le jugement moral et les a priori portés sur ces questions. 24 contributeur·ices, artistes et amateur·ices ont participé à ce projet de plus de 60 pages qui contient également un fascicule de ressources pour mieux vivre avec ou sans alcool. Par la pluralité des expressions – BD, témoignages, poésies, illustrations, archives – qui y sont rassemblées, Fracasse tente avant tout d’ouvrir les voix et de sortir des schémas binaires et des positions de surplomb, pour se sentir un peu mieux, peut-être." The European Commission told TikTok to “change several key features, including disabling infinite scrolling, setting strict screen time breaks and changing its recommender systems. Someone sent me this Hansard record of the MP moral panic about Space invaders from 1981 “the increasingly harmful effects on young people of addiction to "space invader" machines. As a young student, I was trained by Professor Mark Dickerson, a psychologist with expertise in gambling addiction. Ever since, I have always had an interest in public health, law and addiction. It has been fascinating to catch up with Quentin Beresford's new book from NewSouth, Hooked: Inside the Murky World of Australia's Gambling Industry. https://newsouthbooks.com.au/books/hooked/ Amongst other things, the book provides a comparative analysis about legal and regulatory responses to addictive products: 'Over the years, Australian governments have introduced some of the strictest anti-smoking measures anywhere in the world. There is a total ban on any messaging that aims to persuade people to smoke. This is complemented by plain packaging laws, the banning of logos and branding on packets of cigarettes, and the introduction of graphic health warnings. By a large margin, community opinion favoured a similar approach to gambling advertising and promotion.' The book explores the failures of Australian Governments to adequately respond to the public health threats of gambling. #health #gambling #addiction #auslaw #auspol
